2日上午10时08分，伴随着“和谐号”货运列车一声长鸣，准朔线首发列车缓缓驶离店坪南站，开往内蒙段红进塔站，至此，由中铁六局太原铁建公司参与承建的山西省重要煤运通道准朔铁路正式开通运营。
朔准铁路是国家“十二五”规划的重点工程，东西横跨晋、陕、蒙三省区，线路正线全长214.495公里。按国铁Ⅰ级标准建设，全线电气化，设计运输能力每年6000万吨，为单线万吨重载运煤电气化铁路，是新建的一条运煤铁路专线。
中铁六局太原铁建公司承建施工的准朔铁路工程二标段长35.9公里，主要包括黄河特大桥工程及桥涵、路基、轨道、房建等工程。在其关键控制性工程黄河特大桥的施工中，依托《上承式钢管拱特大桥施工技术研究》课题，获得发明专利5项、实用新型专利6项、省部级工法11项；荣获中铁六局集团科技进步特等奖、中国公路建设行业协会科技创新二等奖。
准朔铁路的开通运营将对加快落实国家能源发展战略、构建大通道煤运网络发挥积极作用。同时对带动当地煤炭开采业和相关产业及商业、服务业的发展，促进沿线地区的社会和经济发展具有重要意义。
